The City of Chicago offers classes on "Green" topics at the Chicago Center for Green Technology and at other locations around the area. TITLE: Chicago Solar POWERUP! DATE: Session I: 7/13 - 7/16; Session II: 7/20 - 7/23 (Tuesday-Friday); Finale Event 7/24/2010 @ CCGT TIME: 8:30 AM-12:00 PM INSTRUCTORS: Josie Elbert, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Educator and Jennifer Wolf, High School Science Teacher LOCATION: Chicago Center for Green Technology, 445 N. Sacramento Blvd., Chicago, IL 60612 LEVEL: Students, ages 9-13 COST: $75 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 6/30/2009 The Chicago Center for Green Technology invites future scientists, engineers, and designers to the 5th annual Chicago Solar Powerup! Solar Powerup gives students ages 9-13 the opportunity to design, build, and race model solar powered cars while learning about renewable energy resources. Students are given instruction in photovoltaic technology and opportunities to experiment with various design factors and thoroughly test their models. The workshops culminate in a drag race tournament at the Chicago Center for Green Technology Saturday, July 24. Please note: Registration is limited to 20 students per session; students will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. Spots may only be reserved by the receipt of payment ($75, check only made payable to “Chicago Center for Green Technology") no later than two weeks prior to the first class.
