DATE: Session I: 7/13 - 7/16; Session II: 7/20 - 7/23 (Tuesday-Friday); Finale Event 7/24/2010 @ CCGT TIME: 8:30 AM-12:00 PM INSTRUCTORS: Josie Elbert, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Educator and Jennifer Wolf, High School Science Teacher LOCATION: Chicago Center for Green Technology, 445 N. Sacramento Blvd., Chicago, IL 60612 LEVEL: Students, ages 9-13 COST: $75 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 6/30/2009 The Chicago Center for Green Technology invites future scientists, engineers, and designers to the 5th annual Chicago Solar Powerup! Solar Powerup gives students ages 9-13 the opportunity to design, build, and race model solar powered cars while learning about renewable energy resources. Students are given instruction in photovoltaic technology and opportunities to experiment with various design factors and thoroughly test their models. The workshops culminate in a drag race tournament at the Chicago Center for Green Technology Saturday, July 24. Please note: Registration is limited to 20 students per session; students will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. Spots may only be reserved by the receipt of payment ($75, check only made payable to “Chicago Center for Green Technology") no later than two weeks prior to the first class. TITLE: Sustainable Business Fundamentals — Frameworks (CSBA 103) DATE: April 28, 2010 TIME: 3:00 PM-5:00 PM SPEAKERS: Laura Flanigan, Five Winds International and Peter Nicholson, Foresight Design Initiative LEVEL: All levels welcome COST: $45 for CSBA members, $65 for students (with ID), LIRI Council or WBDC Businesses, $90 for non-members LOCATION: Women's Business Development Center, 8 S. Michigan Ave., #400 Chicago, IL 60603 RSVP: Pre-registration is required. Registration for Green Business seminars administered by the Chicago Sustainable Business Alliance is taken through CSBA’s registration website, http://apr10csba103.eventbright.com. Strategies for integration and incorporating sustainability are inherently multifaceted undertakings and many conceptual frameworks exist to guide businesses in their planning. In this workshop, we will introduce and analyze comprehensive strategies to integrate sustainable principles into your business practices. What context does a business use to decide upon short- and long-term goals? With over 20 approaches covered, participants will leave with knowledge of the best-known approaches to sustainable thinking. Attendees receive a comprehensive resource guide.

C3 Spring 2010 Environmental Leadership Training Orientation The Chicago Conservation Corps is now recruiting for its Spring 2010 Environmental Leadership Training Series. Learn from community and environmental leaders about urban environmental challenges and opportunities for change,then lead an environmental service project in your community with C3 support and resources. . To apply for the C3 Leadership Training Series, you must be a City of Chicago resident and attend one orientation. The Spring 2010 training will be held at the Chicago Center for Green Technology, 445 N. Sacramento Blvd, Saturdays, April 10, 17, 24, and May 1 from 9:30am - 1:30pm. A mandatory field trip will take place on Saturday, May 8. A $75 fee covers course participation and project support. Financial assistance is available upon request.
